John I. Melnick was admitted to practice in Virginia in 1961. He has been a practicing law trial attorney for 45 years. During this time he was also an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney and for the last 25 years he has been a Commissioner in Chancery of the Circuit Court of Arlington Virginia. He now practices law with his son Paul under the name of Melnick & Melnick, PLC in Falls Church, Virginia.

John Melnick practice is mainly in the field of Estate, Trust and Probate. He is active in Estate Planning and serves as Administrator and Trustee in many situations.

Many of the estate probates that Mr. Melnick is involved with are contested and he handles the litigation. He has in the last year handled several complex partition suits to a successful conclusion.

John Melnick is a graduate of the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce and the University of Virginia School of Law, receiving a Juris Doctor Degree. He served three terms in the Virginia House of Delegates and was a candidate for Attorney General of Virginia. He has been an Associate Professor of Law at George Washington University, Washington DC. He has been a director of the Virginia Bar and President of the Arlington Bar Association.

John and his wife Marjory live in Arlington, Virginia and enjoy their children and grandchildren at their ocean home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.They are also involved with the Arlington County Sister City program
